What defines Argyl Partners
An honest outside read
Most relationships begin with a plain description of what we see in a family's wealth, offered without an agenda. One family is twelve months from selling a business; another has a second generation forming its own views while capital sits idle after years of reinvestment. Starting points differ that widely, so the answers do too, and we build each one from scratch.
Structuring assets and investments
We set up and tidy the architecture behind family wealth — holding companies, trusts, foundations, and the entities sitting beneath them. Much of what we know here comes from running capital ourselves. Where a specialist view is required, we bring in independent external advisors whose work we have tested over years.
Working out what the capital is for
This tends to be the part everyone enjoys, and it never really concludes. Goals move as businesses mature and children grow up, so the conversation keeps pace with the portfolio year after year. Long experience with partner families gives us useful reference points, and we apply them with care. No two families share the same arithmetic or the same temperament.
Professional services that actually connect
Legal, tax, accounting, and the work adjacent to them all belong here, and our interest in it is practical. Theory rarely survives contact with a cross-border structure or a deadline in the middle of a transaction. Our job is to keep those disciplines talking to each other so nothing goes missing in the handoffs between them.
Philanthropy
Putting capital behind problems worth solving comes naturally to the families we work with, and to us. Giving usually travels with personal involvement in the institutions and community efforts being funded, which improves the grant and the result it produces.
Lifestyle
Wealth is meant to serve a life, and we keep it in that order. We come back to the simple things — time outside, sport, good company, a decent bottle of wine, a long climb that earns the meal waiting at the end of it.
How a family portfolio divides up
- Financial assetsEquities from markets worldwide, fixed income, commodities, and cash form the diversified core, widened by alternative funds and liquid strategies.
- Tangible assetsResidential property, commercial buildings, warehousing and logistics space, land, and development projects sit in this segment, along with precious metals and collectibles.
- Private marketsVenture capital and private equity held directly and through funds, with growth equity carrying particular weight — above all growth-stage companies spread across a range of sectors and geographies.
- PhilanthropySupport for schools and education, for culture and the arts, for foundations and charitable organizations, and for local initiatives with a measurable social effect.
